A Rocky Balboa hot tub?

Answer by Robert
The water level is suppose to be higher than the jets by about two – three inches to prevent the water from doing this. If it is blowing water through this layer of water then you have some other jets lower in the system that are clogged and you need to unscrew the jet and flush them out.

How Do You Turn Down the Pressure of the Hot Tub and Would It Make the Jets Come Back on?

Question from kat m: How do you turn down the pressure of the hot tub and would it make the jets come back on?
Do you think I could have blown a fuse it’s a blue ridge spa would that make it work they want come on at all now. thank you so much for helping me. the heat light comes on but no blower

Without knowing the specific model, it would be best to consult your owner’s manual or with the store you bought it from.

Answer by DeeDee
check first to make sure a breaker hasn’t been turned off, if it is wired for a 220. My spa has separate nobs to adjust pressure only, not to turn the jets on or off. Basically, it sounds like it is getting a little bit of power, but not enough.

How Many Jets Should a Hot Tub Have.?

Question from Jennifer: How many jets should a hot tub have.?
I see some with 10 and then with 30+. Realistically what would be minimum amount

Answer by Maperoute
You can go as basic as you want. You should really don a swimsuit and go try them out. Would buy an in cabinet version. In deck/gound versions are a bit harder to access depending on how you install and then you need a sump pump / drainage. Buying one – should check to see how long the company has been in business and how long with the BBB. Could start with a good rating and 2yrs later be the worst. Buying direct from the manufacturer can save you money. Prices range from $ 2,500. ultra basic 2 person models to $ 10,000. for a more deluxe 4-6 person model. A swim jet at one end with seating at the other is wonderful. Those will be considerably higher. Jets comes is a variety of styles depending on the therapy features you would like. Gas heater is the cheapest to operate – if you go electric need to buy the highest kw (more expensive to attain temp but cheaper to maintain). Bromine system is just fine – buy chemicals from a spa place not a Mart store (HTH is mainly chalk)- you want true spa chemicals. Figure around $ 30.00 a month to operate the spa. Check on filter access; should be easy and have washable filter. The shell itself – would get one with bio guard for easier maint. & a rougher, not smooth surface for safety. Covers are expensive but you need one to keep in the heat, keep out foreign matter and can safety lock. Spas, like pools have requirements to be fenced in /secured. Can always just buy a basic jacuzzi tub for the bath.

Answer by John Doe
It’s really not a question of how many but how powerful.

Tubs with only a few jets are nice; perhaps one for your lower back and one for feet, but the pumps in most hot tubs – unless you really spend some money – just aren’t that effective for real massage therapy.

We usually just left our off and had champagne and talked, or I would read erotica to her. The pumps are often just too noisy.

Now, if you want to experience a spa that’s really effective, look for an AmericInn near you.

See: http://www.americinn.com/

The pumps they put in those babies are awesome!

Now THAT’S a jet that will do some serious massage.

We had a Hot Springs Spa – we loved it and if we ever purchased another, that’s what we’d get. We moved and so sold it and can’t have one where we live now. Ours had at least 10 to 15.

Why Do Hot Tub Spinning Jets Always Seem to Get Stuck?

Question from imperialfive: Why do hot tub spinning jets always seem to get stuck?
I have a Phoenix spa and the jet spinners only spin a little bit, then stop…is there some sort of calcification I should worry about? How do I fix?

Best Answers:

Answer by dave.greg
Your right it’s calcium . Go to your supply store and tell them, they have a product to correct this,

Answer by Dr. Hot Tub Wilmington NC
Hi…I am sorry but I disagree with it being calcium. it is a poor jet design with the manufacture. They most likely have too many jets per pump equaling a poor gallon per minute (gpm) flow rate. Phoneix over reaches too much the gpm rate. Figure one pump for 24 jets. if you ave more then that number which I bet you do for one pump your out of the industry ratio.. Do keep your calcium level in check but that is not going to be the real problem! Sorry!

Is It Difficult to Change the Jets in a Coleman Hot Tub

Question from hopie4673: Is it difficult to change the jets in a Coleman hot tub
I am about to purchase a used hot tub and was told that the jets aren’t very strong. Is it difficult to change on your own and/or expensive? I have someone who lives with me who is a “handyman” and just built a huge deck onto the back of my house. He knows a little about everything including electronics and mechanical…. I am thinking he could figure it out, but wanted to make sure it was worth it for the deal that I am getting….or should I spend more on one that works well?
Thanks

Best Answers:

Answer by Wired
It might not be the jets, it could be the pump so more expensive than you think. If you have a Coleman dealer around, go look at them and ask about maintenance, including changing the jets.

Answer by Dr. Hot Tub Wilmington NC
Wired is correct in that it is not the jets for the most part. By the way if you turn the outside ring of the jet counter clockwise it will eventually click and then you can pull it straight out.

Now for more power(better flow rate), look at the spa’s main pump and or secondary pump and replace it with one with more hp and flow rate. Knowing their tubs I would replaced it with a 56 frame Executive (Waterway) 5hp 2 speed pump for pump #1. It’s very easily done. Just make sure you get the proper sized Wet end for 1.5″ or 2″ pipes.

My Hot Tub Shuts Off (trips the GFI Breaker) if I Hit the “Jets” Button Two Times Too Quickly. Any Idea Why?

Question from James R. Reed, II: My hot tub shuts off (trips the GFI breaker) if I hit the “jets” button two times too quickly. Any idea why?
We recently bought a used Cal Spas hot tub with limited documentation, none of which addresses this possible scenario.

By default, the spa runs the pump for four hours after I first turn it on. Two times now I have gotten too anxious and have played with the jets or light during that four hour period.

Usually that doesn’t create a problem but both times I accidentally turned the jets one when I meant to hit lights. I rapidly hit the jets button a second time to shut off the jets.

Both times that has caused the GFI breaker to trip.

In each case, it takes about 12 hours before I can turn the breaker back on and restart the hot tub.

Any thoughts?

Answer by Foss
You need more power. Remember the Seinfeld episode where Kremer blows the powere in the whole building with his hot tub? More power !

Answer by Alex S
That it takes 12 hours before you can turn the unit back on makes me think that what you did somehow made a small amount of water get in the wiring, creating a ground fault that goes away when the water has evaporated. My only other thought about it is that the GFI breaker may need replacing.

Answer by T C
Now hold on pardner! Don’t run out and pour more power in, or buy a new breaker! Sounds to me like the breaker is doing it’s job. What is confusing is you think you are working with the gfi, when what you are experiencing is an overload. Starting and stopping any big motor is going to cause excessively high current and high current will cause an overload. You don’t have a real problem, just let the pump run for a minuet or so after turning it on and then shut it off, your problem will go away or my name isn’t Sparky.

Answer by Darkgoth
check motor amps and then think about how on a quick start or “startup” a motor can draw up to 6 (YES SIX) times its nameplate rating or MORE! thus for example a 10 amp motor can draw 50-60 amps for a millisecond..and to do it twice..well your asking for this to happen..

No way, for a hot tub that is almost 7 years old. That is just about what the original price was. For about $ 5,000.00 you can buy a brand new Bull Frog tub.
